Torpoint Ath 4

Bodmin Tn 2

Championship hold-ers Torpoint completed

their home campaign

on Wednesday evening with a nervous win over a Bodmin side who gave them a bit of a fright.

Torpoint took the lead when Darren Hicks knocked in a Dean Cardew cross, but Bodmin looked lively up front and drew level with a well-worked move ending with Ross Welsh smashing the ball home.

Within a minute, though, Duncan Duthie had restored Torpoint's advantage with a well-struck shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Luke Avis-Riordan added Torpoint's third goal, although it took a wicked deflection before entering the net.

Bodmin looked dangerous on the break, and they reduced the arrears when the hosts' normally reliable defence was breached, leaving Gareth King to race clear before lobbing goalkeeper Jack Dickson.

The second period was a fairly even affair, with both sides spurning good chances – and it wasn't until Darren Shepherd whipped in the home side's fourth goal that they managed to seal the victory.

The delighted Torpoint team were then presented with the League trophy, for the second season in a row.
