LOUD cheers came from a crowd who had braved high winds and rain to see Torpoint’s Christmas Lights come on.

Festivities in the town began with the launch of the second Christmas Tree Festival at St James Church.

Around 50 local groups and businesses have participated in the festival which continues until December 11, when votes will be totted up and a cup for the best tree presented.
