THREE teenagers from Callington are standing for positions on Cornwall's Youth Parliament. Lorna Cannon, 14, Jonathan Hart, 15, and Matthew Waterworth, 16, all want roles in the parliament and will go before a vote during December. If the candidates get elected, they will have seats on Youth Parliament East Cornwall Each candidate gave a speech in the Caradon District Council Chambers in Liskeard in October expressing their opinion about issues they think concern most young people in the area. The three candidates from Callington spoke on the lack of public transport and leisure facilities in the area and had ideas to move things forward. They feel concerned about our environment and also noticed the need of confidential help and advice centres within schools to help prevent bullying. Once elected for the Cornwall YP you then gather with all the MYPs from across the UK to discuss the key issues and concerns of the youth. You might get further into the UKYP and then stand for the European Youth Parliament, to write resolutions with delegates from all over Europe.
