Thirty firefighters from five stations brought a blaze under control at Orchards Scrapyard near Dobwalls on Tuesday morning.
Two appliances from Liskeard, one each from Bodmin and Lostwithiel, an Incident Command Unit from Launceston Community Fire Station and an Operational Support Vehicle from St Austell Community Fire Station were sent to the scene at 10.24am.
Firefighters used three jets and a hosereel with water supplied from a fire hydrant to extinguish the fire which involved scrap cars and scrap metal.
The flames were brought under control by 11.45am and two appliances and ten firefighters from Liskeard remained at the scene damping down.
The fire, which is believed to have started accidentally, was out by 1pm.
