THE latest edition of the Cornish Times is on sale now, and content includes:
- The owner of a jewellers’ shop in Liskeard says that more traffic calming, and more considerate parking, is needed in the town after a bus trying to pass a lorry collided with her shop canopy, causing damage both to the premises and the bus. She says it is fortunate no one was in the seats on the upper deck at the time as there could have been a fatality.
- We have the latest news on the controversial felling of trees behind Endsleigh Terrace in Liskeard, with the builder involved saying the value of the trees has been ‘overinflated’ and it is just scrubland with some fly-tipping, while the local residents say that they have received a message of support in their campaign to save them from Liskeard School and Community College.
- Princess Anne visited Callington on Tuesday to visit a unique project which has seen three local community interest companies teaming up. She also planted a tree and named a market garden in honour of her mother the Queen’s Jubilee.
- Liskeard Town Council is backing a plan to demolish the ‘mostly vacant’ commercial units of the Liskeard Enterprise Centre and build nine homes in their place.
