With reference to your notice (CT 6/8/99) of the forthcoming exhibition at the Callington museum of the University Colleges' report - The Archaeology of Leskernick, Bodmin Moor.
Leskernick Hill (and surrounding tors) have been favourite haunts of mine for many years; imagine my surprise when coming across a large team of archaeologists and anthropologists excavating the numerous Bronze Age remains on the sunny, south facing slopes, during one of my walks.
Quite apart from their obvious professional interest in the dig, I was struck by their fascination with the moor and the unparalleled beauty of the Cornish countryside.
Some expressed their total ignorance that such places ever existed; that they felt privileged just to be here.
Although during the first season of the excavations they experienced almost a full range of typically Cornish weather (their digs were mostly carried out on the prevailing slopes) they thoroughly enjoyed their brief 'holiday'.
Remarking too, how lucky I must feel to be able to visit the moors regularly.
