LISKEARD’S mayor has paid a visit to two local care homes to celebrate their hard work.
Councillor Simon Cassidy first went to Pengover House, where he presented staff with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Town Council. The gesture, he said, was to honour the 25 years the home and its staff have given to serving the community.
The mayor said: “We owe a great deal to those working in care - they are often the unsung heroes and deserve all the praise we can give.
“Over the last 25 years Pengover has served our community well and it is fitting to mark the occasion with our sincere thanks.”
The mayor later went to visit the Beechlawn Nursing Home, where he handed over some goodies to the staff and residents.
He said: “Those who work in the care sector are often the forgotten heroes, notably through the pandemic, and deserve our thanks.”
