Bodmin’s Al Hodge was one of the most successful singer-songwriters to emerge from Cornwall. During his career, Al performed with local bands such as the Jaguars and Ginhouse and was a session guitarist at the Sawmills Studio.
He also produced solo albums and had success with his band The Mechanics.
Held in memory of Al, the first Alstock festival in July 2007 was a small affair but the festival has continued to develop and grow throughout the past 10 years and is now considered a highlight of the Bodmin calendar.
This year organisers celebrate 10 years of Alstock and celebrate the life of Dick Gynn, one of the founding members of Alstock. They say his presence will be greatly missed this year.
The festival kicks off in the marquee on Friday July 21 with an evening of entertainment with comedian Johnny Cowling and music from Small Wonder who will sure get the place rocking.
The main event is Saturday, July 22 with eight bands on the main stage and several acts on the acoustic stage inside the Marquee.
Top of the bill on the main stage are One Step Behind who are a Madness tribute act who perform all over the country.
Modern reggae band Shanty perform our stage with Bodmin lad Jake Butler on bass.
Alstock favourites Bullet will be playing between upbeat The Struts and Rosie Crow, formerly of Rosie and the Goldbug.
Performing in the Acoustic Marquee will be a variety of performers including a ladies’ trio bringing back the sounds of the 1940s.
The event also includes a beer tent, food outlets and the wonderful Dollface to brighten the revellers up with her glitter!
