Tennis- Sunnybanks off to a flyer

Two excellent wins by Sunnybanks A against last season's Penn Cornwall champions Redruth A and then runners-up Truro A, has given them an early lead in the Men's Premier Division.

Although Ryan Fern and Steve Lobb were unbeaten for Redruth, the winning margin of 6-4 was gained by Sunnybanks on the strength of just three extra games being won.

In the Truro match, Jake Hartigan and Liam Storey were the stars for the winners winning both their ties in straight sets.

Liskeard A are just behind Sunnybanks after chalking up their second win in succession, this time against Bude A. Unbeaten for Liskeard were Trevor Greenbank and Rob Kellagher.

In Division Two (East), Wadebridge B now lead after a maximum against their own C team and a very close 6-4 win at Launceston. However, Bude B are in a threatening position after an east 10-0 win against Launceston.

In Division Three (East), Truro D are already the only unbeaten team in the Division after an 8-3 victory against Newquay, whilst Bude C jumped to the top with a comprehensive 10-0 defeat of their D team.

The only match played in the Ladies' Premier Division resulted in another nine points for leaders Penzance A in their match against Truro B. In Division One (East), St Austell C were involved in a closely contested match against Wadebridge A but came away with a 9-3 margin with Margaret Gwilliam and Sheilah Hocking starring for the victors. The Wadebridge team had better luck on their visit to Newquay and came away with a 9-2 win.

Division Two (East) provided a very tight finish between Wadebridge B and Launceston, who went down 4-6 despite two straight set wins by Ali Parnell and Jenny Worth. The other match in the Division saw St Austell D gain their 10-0 victory at Wadebridge C.
