Apologies to Looe cinema owner Michael Lee for an item on last week's leisure page which confused his 95 seater local cinema, which he has run for ten years with a 25 seater cinema based near Looe.
Michael Lee and family run the port's popular Fisherman's Arms in Higher Market Street. The cinema was opened in June 1989 by Sir Robert Hicks MP, bringing the 'big' screen back to Looe after an absence of 16 years.
Situated on the second floor of Market House, it has reached its 10th anniversary this year, and Michael recalls the first films to be shown were Willow and Twins. The cinema shows all the top films, and Michael says the most popular in recent years was Men In Black. Presently showing is Eyes Wide Shut (18).
Open six nights a week winter and summer, the cinema also runs matinees in high season. 'We are the only cinema in a 25 mile radius of Looe, so we provide a community service and try to show what people most want to see' said Michael.
Seats are £3.75 adults and £3.25 children.
