A TEENAGER from South East Cornwall has presented a cheque to a hospital that saved her life and that of a young friend.

Eighteen-year-old Charlotte Guest handed over the cheque for £1,721 to Birmingham Children’s Hospital on behalf of herself and nine-year-old Ruth Patt.

The donation was accepted gratefully by regional fundraising officer Ryan Stanley.

Charlotte trekked to the top of Mount Snowdon in May along with four other parishioners from Sclerder Abbey near Looe – Malcolm and Liz Butler, Cathy Guest and Len Fletcher.

Charlotte and fellow parishioner Ruth both owe their lives to the hospital where they have undergone multiple life-saving operations from birth.

The £1,721 raised will be divided between two departments at the hospital who have cared for Charlotte and Ruth, under the direction of Professor Deirdre Kelly and Mr Parikh.
