Teams from the South east Cornwall bases of a business empire are taking part in a £300,000 charity challenge.
Staff from Ginsters, Tamar Foods, Westward Laboratories and the Samworth Brothers Business Services Centre, all based in Callington, are taking part in the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge and raising money for a host of Cornish charities.
These include Children’s Hospice South West, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Chicks, Jermiah’s Journey and the Merlin Centre for Multiple Sclerosis.
Three teams from Kensey Foods, part of the Samworth Brothers Group and based at Pennygillam Industrial Estate in Launceston, are raising money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and also the ‘Dash of Silver’ charity, set up by Kensey employee Dan Silver. Dan has battled cancer, and is continuing to create further awareness of male cancer.
All are training hard for the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge which is taking place in the Lake District this June.
Taking place every two years, the challenge has raised more than £1.5 million for charity over the past decade.
More than 100 teams from Samworth Brothers businesses in Cornwall and elsewhere, plus suppliers and customers, will take part in a gruelling day-long event which includes a mountain walk, long mountain bike ride and canoe race.
The fund-raising target is £300,000.
