COTEHELE House hosted the third race in this season's East Cornwall Harriers Primary Schools Cross-Country League, sponsored by the Cornish Times.

Perfect weather conditions for running made the event very competitive, and the absence of a couple of schools for visits to the pantomime gave runners the opportunity to gain extra places and significantly improve the league position of their school.

Local favourite Tilly McDowell from Delaware, continued her perfect start to the season making it three wins from three in the Years 3/4 girls' race. Charlotte Hicks from Upton Cross, also continued her fine run of form to take her third second place of the season, while Scarlette Ring, of Looe, became the first new top three runner since the start of the season.

Oliver Smart from Antony, took his third win of the season in the Years 3/4 boys' race and Harry Gravener from Menheniot, and Alex Maciver-Redwood from St Dominic, swapped positions from the Lux Park event to take second and third respectively.

The Years 5/6 girls' race saw Caitlyn Price from Looe, taking her second win in a row with Molly

O'Dwyer from Dobwalls, again running well to gain second place. Katie Cogan from St Cleer, finished third.

Soloman Phillips, of Trenode, won the Years 5/6 boys' race with Jamie Williams, of Sir Robert Geffery's, splitting him from his brother to take second ahead of Noah Phillips in third.

The team competitions are extremely competitive this season without a clear favourite in any of the age categories, giving the last two events extra importance – every extra overtake in each race could prove vital.

Organisers have thanked Tamar Fruiterer's which provided fruit for the runners, volunteer marshals who mean the event can happen, and the National Trust for allowing the event to be held at its property.
