Polperro as depicted by artists and writers through time will be the subject of a talk by historian Mark Camp on Friday (April 12).
Mark’s talk will focus mainly on artists and photographers who have depicted Polperro in images.
Society president Brian Oldham found this photo in the archives depicting fishermen in their ganseys on the quayside in the late 19th or early 20th century.
At that time, Polperro’s fishing fleet was focused on a thriving pilchard landing and processing industry; later the catch diversified, and today, the Net Loft is a space often used by artists to exhibit their work.
Mark Camp will also be at Looe’s Sardine Factory on Saturday April 13 to give a talk on the history of tourism in Looe.
