TALES and scenes from Liskeard old and new will be the topic of an illustrated talk on Thursday (October 12).
Lower and Higher Lux Street, Lux Cross and Greenbank Road will be the particular focus of this month’s talk led by historian and museum volunteer Brian Oldham.
Photographs supplied by Brian give a taster of some of the scenes in Liskeard which today are no more: a late 19th century blacksmiths, with young family members or apprentices working outside, once stood on the site of Powerquip on Greenbank Road; and the Victoria Inn on Higher Lux Street, which was demolished in the late 1960s.
The talk will take place at the Liskeard and District Museum on Thursday at 7.30pm - booking is required as space is limited.
