RESIDENTS and businesses in Looe have a couple more days to have their say on some proposed changes to traffic management.Members of the public have been invited to take part in a consultation aimed at keeping more traffic away from the narrow streets of the town centre.
Cormac Solutions Ltd, on behalf of Cornwall Council, is inviting comments on a proposal to amend the road marking and signage arrangement at the entrance to Fore Street and the extent of the existing motor vehicle prohibition (except for access). This scheme has been selected as part of the local “Community Network Panel” and is intended to address concerns that the existing location of the vehicle prohibition, near to the junction of Station Road, does not give sufficient advance warning to drivers.
This leads to concern about the volume of general traffic which continues unnecessarily towards the town centre where conflict can occur with pedestrians in the narrow streets.
Improvements are also proposed to the directional signing to provide clearer messaging to drivers. The deadline for having your say on the consultation is Wednesday, November 3.
Responses can be made by visiting www.cornwall.gov.uk/TrafficConsult; Look on the second page for 'Fore Street, Looe'. Then email the Engineering Design Group on [email protected], quoting scheme name and scheme reference and indicating your support or objection to the proposals.
