TORPOINT and Rame Peninsula Lions Club are calling for brave members of the public to take part in the annual New Year's Day Dip. The event, which takes place on Cawsand beach, sees fundraisers go for a dip in the English Channel in fancy dress costumes. Registration will take place from 10-11.45am at the Cawsand Community Hall, and the dip will begin at 12.30pm. Judging for the various trophies will also take place at the Cawsand Community Hall. The trophies to be won are: most sponsorship (pub team), most sponsorship (individual), most sponsorship (non-pub team), special merit award (sponsorship), best individual fancy dress, best non-pub team fancy dress, best pub team fancy dress, special merit award for effort, and best small team trophy (less than four).
