Swimmers of all abilities are signing up to take part in Swimathon 2020 with Bodmin and Liskeard leisure centres participating to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

Swimmers can take on distances from 400m to 5k or, for those who really like a challenge, a triple 5k event, as well as team and family challenges, where teams of two to five people can swim 1.5k or 5k.

Karen Edmond, GLL’s Community Sports Manager in Cornwall, said: ‘As a charitable social enterprise we are delighted to be supporting Swimathon again this year and to encourage people across the UK to get into the water to help raise vital funds for fantastic causes.

‘The response from people in Cornwall so far has been outstanding with scores of sign ups, but there are still chances to register and take part. We encourage everyone to sign up, get active and raise some money.’

Anyone wishing to find out more or to sign up for Swimathon 2020 should go to: www.swimathon.org or visit their local Better leisure centre. Registration closes on March 23.
