On Wednesday May 30, performers Swashbuckling Cornwall will be premiering ‘The Swordstorian’ at The Keep in Bodmin, home to Cornwall’s Regimental Museum.

Henry Austwick of Swashbuckling Cornwall said: ‘Swords have long held a mystical place in our hearts, their stories passed down through generation after generation.

‘The Swordstorian explores the history, culture, heritage and world of swords though tales surrounding their owners, giving an insight to the past in an innovative way by using the ancient traditional symbology of swords.’

Some of the stories presented are based in historical fact, others the work of myth and fiction.

The museum itself has several swords on display, notably the amusingly named ‘Sword of Peace’, and the sword which Sir John Moore took into the fateful battle of Corunna (pictured).

Three performances of this new work will be held throughout May 30 as part of the half term events at Cornwall’s Regimental Museum.

Visitors can take part in a special poppy making workshop on May 29, and create something that will become part of a special exhibit later in the year.

Throughout the week there is also the chance to take part in gun handling sessions where you can get hands-on with some of the historic weaponry housed in the keep, along with a variety of other family-friendly activities.
