Patients with Looe Old Bridge Surgery will benefit from two new pieces of equipment worth a total of £10,175, presented to staff by the West Looe Town Trust and the Mayor's Fund. The state-of-the-art bladder scanner will enable district nurse Kate Williams to scan patients either in their own homes or in the surgery, saving them a long round-trip to hospital while at the same time helping keep hospital waiting lists down. Until the arrival of the scanner Kate had to travel to either Liskeard or Torpoint to borrow a similar piece of equipment. Also presented to the centre was a Coagucheck device which will enable staff to monitor the state of patients' blood. Pictured at the handing-over ceremony are Looe mayor Ron Overd, community staff nurse Emma Chainey with the Coagucheck, Kate Williams with the Bardscan bladder scanner and Geraldine Oliver, chairperson of the West Looe Town Trust.
