Chairman of Looe Chamber of Commerce, Mr Dave Peat, recently commented that he had every sympathy with Liskeard traders over supermarket chain Lidl's application as he had just come through a supermarket battle himself.

The big difference between Liskeard and Looe is that we already have Spar, Co-op, Somerfield, Safeway and now Alldays, but Looe just has a very small Alldays and Somerfield.

The majority of Looe people with cars do their main shopping away from Looe on a once a week/fortnight trip to Liskeard/St Austell, even the business owners as the prices are so much lower, those without transport are left with no option but to shop at Looe.

Ask all those members of Looe Chamber of Commerce to put hand on heart and say they shop at Looe.

A supermarket such as Tesco would not only give the people of Looe the choice they deserve but Tesco would also attract more people to the Looe area.
