A CARE home manager from Saltash has won a national award for her 'superb services to older people'.
Georgina Shiers, who was presented with her award by TV celebrity Ben Shepherd, has worked at Anchor-owned St Anne's Care Home, for more than 12 years.
She won the Frontline Leaders Award in the Great Britain National Care Homes Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Saturday.
Georgina, who progressed through regional awards to the national finals, said: 'I am passionate about quality care and have been involved in the field since 1980.
'I have experienced many roles, from care assistant to senior business manager.
'I have loved each role as it has enabled me to make a difference to individuals.
'Leadership is about taking people along with you. I am amazed and overwhelmed, but very proud to receive this award.
'Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me on my fantastic journey.'
Anchor's regional operational director Trevor West, who nominated Georgina, said: 'She deserved to win against very strong competition from across the care home sector.
'Gina is simply fantastic. Her commitment and strong sense of values are simply the best.'
