If you’re looking for some fun things to do now that school is out, the staff and volunteers at Cotehele have organised special activities to keep families busy all summer long.
‘We’re very excited to be putting on events that will encourage children to play and use their imagination,’ says Charmian Saunders, visitor services and volunteer manager at the National Trust estate near Saltash.
‘All of the activities are drop-in with no need to book because we know families need to be flexible during their busy holidays.’
On weekdays from August 1 until September 2, visitors can join the following activities:
Mondays – paper making
Tuesdays and Thursdays – wild art
Wednesdays – catch-cup games
Fridays – swords and shields
All activities are free with entry and will run from 12.30 until 3.00pm. Normal admission charges apply.
On Sundays, from July 31 until September 4, visitors can step back in time at Cotehele Mill. Staff and volunteers will be dressed in Victorian costume and, if the conditions are right, they will be demonstrating how to mill the flour.
There will be a new tapestry-inspired trail in the garden, an interactive summer ‘CSI’ trail in the house and children can connect with nature in a National Trust ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ challenge’.
