Forder’s Summer Fete went ahead on the village green as the arrival of sunshine dispelled thoughts of postponing the event.

Councillor Sue Hooper opened the fete with a minute’s silence in memory of victims of the London terror attack.

She praised residents who have ‘worked tirelessly for decades to keep village life alive’ and highlighted their role as trustees of Forder’s landscape and heritage.

A bouquet was presented to Cllr Hooper by Kate Mugglestone, and as Saltash Town Band played, stalls and side shows plied a good trade – as did the burger and cream tea stands.

Saltash sailing cadets arrived in a colourful flotilla in their Topper and Pico class dinghies, having raced from the town’s Sailing Club.

Race winners were: Topper class – 1st (Shield winner) Joe Marsh; 2nd Harry Asplin; 3rd Kate Saxby. Pico class – 1st (Cup winners) Cameron McFarlane and Max Robins; 2nd Tristan Hills and Alex Way; 3rd James Hills and Finly Hatch.
