Dobwalls under 15s continued their push for honours by keeping their unbeaten run in the the league going with a hard fought 3-1 victory over St Stephens. In difficult windy conditions Dobwalls dominated the match but had to work very hard against a very spirited St Stephens, who tried to catch Dobwalls out on the break. Dobwalls had one goal disallowed early on and squandered several chances before finally taking the lead when Jamie Robbins latched onto an Alex Lindsay corner and headed in from close range.

St Stephens only had a couple of chances in the first half and could have equalised after a bit of a mix up in the Dobwalls defence but for an excellent save from Ben Satterly the Dobwalls keeper.

The second half took much of the same path as the first with St Stephens defending in numbers and attacking on the break. Dobwalls were getting a little frustrated and they allowed St Stephens to get back in the game scoring after another quick break from defence. St Stephens began to believe that they could get something out of this game and with Dobwalls going through a bad patch in the game they became more adventurous.

This however was their undoing as Dobwalls began to find more space. Alex Lindsay made a strong run into the St Stephens box but was tackled before he could get his shot off but fortunately for Dobwalls Alex Martin was on hand to pick up the loose ball and fire in.

Dobwalls managed to secure the victory and gain some breathing space when Mike Ruark who had worked tirelessly up front, cut in from the left and after wriggling his way past two defenders and struck a superb shot into the far corner. Dobwalls thoroughly deserved the three points and St Stephens deserve some credit for their endeavours. Dobwalls still remain unbeaten this year and have a rest from league action this week when they entertain Mount in the Cup, KO 2.30 pm Sunday 6, meet at pitch 1.50 pm.
