Four Year 10 students from Torpoint Community College organised a beach clean at Portwrinkle on Sunday morning. As part of their GCSE coursework for citizenship, Chloe Phillips, with the help of Amanda Hill, Matt Milburn and Ben Ayres organised the day. The event was advertised with leaflets that the students distributed to homes in Portwrinkle and Crafthole and on the day they provided gloves and bin bags to collect rubbish. The clean up started at 11am and attracted more than 20 people, who collected 15 bin bags of discarded rubbish from the shore. At the finish, sandwiches and drinks were provided at the Whitsand Bay Hotel. Chloe said: 'This is not only for our coursework, but is helping the local environment too.'
