Story-tellers from the Mazed group will be bringing the folk tales of North Cornwall to life on the Camel Trail.

They will be using a technique they call Cornishibai which blends Cornish tales with a Japanese form of story-telling known as Kamishibai.

Liskeard actor Nina Hills will be using a specially-equipped bicycle on the Camel Trail to tell tales of mermaids, ghostly dogs and piskey mischief.

The stories will be illustrated with images by Cornish artists, displayed in a copper box on the bicycle.

Anyone who happens to be on the trail on August 15 can enjoy the tales for free.

Cornishibai cards have also been made. These use artists’ illustrations as story-telling prompts, making it easy to retell the tales at home.

The Cornishibai cards will be launched at the Bookshop in Liskeard on Tuesday, August 8, at 4.30pm.
