Representatives from Ellie's Haven and St Luke's Hospice were the guests of honour at the opening of the new Tesco store at Callington and each charity was presented with £500 by manager Gary Wills.
'We wanted to donate to Ellie's Haven and St Luke's Hospice as they are fantastic local charities,' said Mr Wills.
'I am really glad that our mayor and the charity representatives officially opened the store.'
Nigel Libby from Ellie's Haven said: 'Since we started Ellie's Haven, I have said on many occasions how much we appreciate the support and generosity of so many people and organisations. It can be very overwhelming at times when we have a quiet moment to think about things, of how people have taken our children, and the aims of the charity to their hearts.
'We would like to thank Tesco for their donation, and wish them all the best with their new Callington store.'
Senior community fundraiser for St Luke's Hospice Stephanie Cherington said: 'We are extremely grateful to Tesco for its generous donation of £500 to mark the new store opening in Callington. We rely heavily on help from the communities we serve.'
