HORTON the elephant, the Cat in the Hat and a host of familiar characters will be appearing at the Sterts Theatre as local youngsters bring a smash Broadway production back to the stage.

The Caradon Youth Theatre will present “Seussical the Musical” on Friday November 6 and Saturday November 7 at the covered outdoor venue near Liskeard.

Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, the family show has an up-beat score and a heart-warming and thought-provoking story. We see Horton the elephant trying to save the tiny world of Who, the quirky residents of the Jungle of Nool trying to stop him, Gertrude McFuzz on a quest for love and a boy, JoJo, dreaming of a better world. As MC, The Cat in the Hat takes the audience on an adventure where “the thinks that you think” run wild and anything’s possible.

Back in February, the cast of 47 local young performers were given standing ovations at Liskeard’s Public Hall, with audience members describing the show as “musical theatre at an impressively professional level”.

At Sterts, the young actors and singers will be joined once again by a professional live band. Musical director Kate Rogers said she was thoroughly looking forward to taking the cast to Sterts.

She said: “We are so pleased that after the difficult year everyone has had, we are able to bring the fun and mayhem of Seussical to this fantastic venue.”

Director Nic Early added that Seussical is “the perfect show to help people forget about everything and escape for a while”.

“It’s all about the imagination and storytelling and Dr Seuss is the master of this,” he said.

“We are so grateful to the team at Sterts for making this possible. They have done an amazing job this year making the theatre safe for audiences and casts.”

Tickets for Seussical the Musical (Friday November 6 at 7pm, Saturday November 7 at 2pm and 7pm) are available by advance booking only.
