CARADON Youth Theatre will present their first ever full-length Christmas production this week – they’ll be staging the much-loved C.S. Lewis story ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.
This magical tale follows the Pevensie children and their evacuation from London in 1940 to a professor’s house, where through an old wardrobe they find the enchanted land of Narnia, ruled by the evil white witch.
In a battle of good versus evil they must fulfil the prophesy to end the witch’s reign with the help of the almighty Aslan, and take their place on the four thrones of Cair Paravel.
This beautiful version has songs written by West End and Disney vocal coach Steven Luke Walker, who will also be playing keyboards in the live band.
“We are so privileged to not only be performing Steven’s work, but to have him playing for the shows is absolutely amazing,” says musical director Kate Rogers.
“The young people in this fantastic cast have loved learning the brand new songs, and can’t wait to meet the composer himself!”
Director Nic Early is once again delighted to be able to bring a talented cast of 7-20 year olds together in this special production.
“Like so many I love this story, it is full of adventure, friendship, hope and inner strength, and of course, this is the perfect time of year to stage it,” he said.
“We can’t wait to welcome audiences into the world of Narnia!”
Performances at Liskeard’s Public Hall are on Friday, December 17 (7pm), Saturday, December 18 (2pm and 7pm) and Sunday, December 19 (5pm).
