A steam exhibition featuring around 250 photographs of locomotives in all their glory will continue at Stuart House in Liskeard until Saturday (August 25).
The event has been organised by members of the Liskerrett Artworks group who describe themselves as passionate rail enthusiasts.
A working model railway with seven interchanging sets, including The Flying Scotsman, is a highlight of the exhibition.
‘We’ve had a lot of former drivers come and see the displays this week, as well as enthusiasts, holiday makers, and local people who remember steam trains from when they were kids,’ said co-organiser Chris Sutton.
The Liskerrett Artworks group for people with learning difficulties has 18 members, and many of these have supported the event at Stuart House.
Its chairman William Howse feels that people with disabilities are not visible enough or recognised for all the things they do such as paid and voluntary work.
Ben Law, who has been helping out at the exhibition, agrees.
‘I really enjoyed setting up the railway line and I’ve been here for the last three days,’ he said.
‘I think people like us need to be out there more.’
Entry to the steam exhibition is free, but donations are encouraged and will benefit the Liskerrett Artworks group, the Liskerrett Centre and Stuart House.
