Liskeard Athletic 6 Porthleven 0 The Blues will be hoping that their recent yo-yo run of form will have been banished after this demolition of a poor Porthleven team at Lux Park. The last four matches have seen Liskeard suffer two defeats to Plymouth Parkway and notch two 6-0 wins - from the sublime to the ridiculous. Sublime could also be the term for rejuvenated Blues striker Lee Harvey, who belied his advancing years to show there is still plenty of life in the autumn of his footballing career with a four-goal display against the Fishermen. Harvey's physical presence and general leadership of the Blues forward line wrought havoc among a visiting defence that was at best somewhat fragile. That said, Porthleven could have taken a surprise lead against an initially nervy Blues side but Shaun Middleton could only shoot tamely at Simon Zinn from close range after an excellent chance was carved out by Nigel Thwaites in the 34th minute. With Liskeard looking tentative in front of goal it was perhaps endemic of their confidence that the first Blues goal came in somewhat fortuitous style. Jamie Morrison-Hill fed Paul Baker who fired in a low cross which cannoned off Harvey's shins into the net from close range in the 38th minute. Following the collective release of breath among the Lux Park faithful, nerves began to settle and Liskeard doubled their lead right on half time. In classic centre forward mode, Harvey turned and left marker Jamie Burr trailing in his considerable wake, then showed all his experience to advance on Port goalkeeper Sid Taylor before despatching the ball with aplomb. Harvey completed his hat trick in the 48th minute with an easy tap-in but some old failings in front of goal still remained and it was another 15 minutes before Liskeard scored again. Harvey - who else? - was brought down in the penalty box and though Taylor saved Baker's first spot kick, the infuriated Port custodian was adjudged to have moved early, allowing Baker a second chance which was gleefully accepted. The fifth came two minutes from the end, Sam Matthews firing home a low shot, but the grand finale came from Harvey who, seconds from the end, crashed home a spectacular over-the-shoulder volley which flew into the Port net from 20 yards. 'A lot of people doubted us after some of our recent ups and downs, but we will never change the way our attitude or our approach to games. 'I think the way we played today answered a lot of questions today,' said a satisfied Blue Boss Dave Leonard.
