THE new owners of Saltash Sports Shop, Nick and Amanda Taylor, decided to donate much of the old stock, t-shirts and fleeces to a worthy cause so they contacted Saltash Rotary Club. As a result, between £3,000 and £4,000 worth of equipment was collected by the Rotary team to dispatch to Tanzania and Belarus. John Smith, Saltash Rotary International Service chairman, said that fellow Rotarians would be taking the t-shirts to Tanzania and the fleeces to Belarus. It is planned to give them to orphanages and hospices in those countries. Barry Kressinger, of Rotary District International Services, said that the t-shirts would benefit those in a hot country while the fleeces would be appreciated in a colder climate such as Belarus. Also included in the mercy boxes are a quantity of t-shirts from Saltash.net Community School bearing the old logo badge as the new logo badge is now being used on uniforms at the school.
