A presentation of free bags of school equipment worth £2,700 to seven local primary schools took place recently at Brunel primary school in Saltash by Caradon leader Eric Lewis.

Funding for the equipment has been secured from the Lottery Sports fund by Caradon's Recreation Development Section working in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust through Community Delivery of the TOP programmes.

The TOP programmes are an exciting and ambitious initiative, being jointly delivered by Sport England and Youth Sport Trust. The programmes are co-ordinated nationally and delivered by local authorities. They provide better sporting opportunities for four to 18 year olds in a planned and co-ordinated way. Community delivery enables local authorities to support schools to develop after school and lunch time activities using TOP Play/BT TOP Sport outside the curriculum and integrates those youngsters who wish to move into clubs in the area.

The schools who received the bags are: Braddock C of E for athletics; Polperro primary and Duloe c of E for cricket; Upton Cross and Dobwalls primary for football; Trewidland primary for multi-sport; Pelynt primary and Upton Cross primary for netball and Duloe C of E for TOP play.
