ACTION to reduce speed at a known accident black spot in Callington has been welcomed by a senior councillor in the town.
Cllr Andrew Long says that he is grateful to the Caradon Community Network Committee for their unanimous approval of four Highways schemes for Callington Parish.
One is the moving of a 40mph speed limit at a difficult junction on the A390.
“It was vitally important for us to take action over the situation at the Florence Road with Fullaford Road junction,” said Cllr Long. “Moving the 40mph speed limit to some 200m east of the junction will hopefully assist in reducing the speed of traffic at this notorious accident hot spot.”
Meanwhile, a 30mph flashing speed sign will be installed on the A388 at Kelly Bray, and additional parking bays are to be put in at Zaggy Lane and Haye Road. Cllr Long added that now that the schemes have been approved, Cormac will work through the logistics for these and six other highways projects in Golberdon, St Mellion, St Dominick and Gunnislake.
