THE Bishop of Truro, Rev Bill Ind, visited the Parish of St Nicholas and St Faith Church, Saltash on Sunday morning. His duties there included officiating at a confirmation service, followed by Holy Communion. He was also asked to present a gift voucher from the parishioners to James Chenery who celebrated 50 years as a server in the church both in Saltash and for three years in the cathedral in Gibraltar. He was also the first server to wear the gold tunicle when carrying the cross in the church. The tunicle was presented at the beginning of the service by the Bishop and will be used in the church on special occasions and worn by the Crucifer. The confirmation candidate was Dr Bryan Moore of Saltash, and after the service with his family, he enjoyed a reception in the church rooms. Another celebration, also marked at the service, was the Ruby wedding on Sunday of the church organist Jill and her husband Bill Cheffers who is in the church choir.
