A SPECIAL outreach day for single parents in the Callington area who cannot easily pop into their Jobcentre Plus office is being held today at the town's Co-Op Pioneer store. From 9.30am to 4pm, lone parent advisers Carole McQueen and Trudy Arundell will be on hand at the store on New Road to offer advice and information on a number of work related subjects. Carole said that people are welcome to come into the shop for a friendly chat, with no obligation to take anything further. 'People are often surprised at the extent of the help and advice we offer,' she said. 'We can offer advice about things like benefits, tax credits and childcare; and help people access a variety of training opportunities including helping with any related expenses. 'People who have been helped recently to overcome their barriers to work have come back and told us what a difference it has made to their lives. 'Having money, getting out of the house, seeing other adults, getting a break from the children, independence and a better future are all among the benefits people tell us they have gained from returning to work.'
