Swimmers will form an ‘SOS’ shape in the water to show solidarity with a worldwide environmental day of action.
SOS World Climate Action Day is on Saturday (Feb 2) and in Kingsand, local people will gather on the beach and in the water at 11am to spell out their commitment to the cause.
Organiser Deb Hoskin said: ’Tomorrow’s event is a way to show recognition of climate emergency, and that we are coming together to make changes as individuals and communities, as well the highly needed Council and Government policy changes and leadership.
‘By having events around the world at the same time, we feel connected to a global community, all saying with one voice we must take action.
’Together at all levels we can begin to make changes which may well lessen the worst effects of climate change.’
