Approval has been given for Solomon's Ltd of Liskeard to extend the company's factory at Trevithick House, on the Moorswater Estate outside town.
The matter was discussed by the full council committee due to an official recommendation of refusal.
However, earlier in the summer the western sub committee had unanimously recommended approval of the scheme.
The meeting heard the extended property, which has a retail licence, would relieve pressure on Solomon's existing shop in Fore Street, Liskeard so aiding traffic there.
Members noted that the Moorswater application had not been approved by the county surveyor, on highway grounds, but local councillors felt the extension would have no extra effect on the area. Barbara McTaggart and Tony Powell believed road safety problems would not be affected by the application.
Hugh Francis stressed a Dobwalls bypass was the answer to road safety aspects. George Wilson felt the extension at Moorswater would be a planning gain, while Dawn Austin mentioned the 150 years the furniture firm had been in Liskeard. A unanimous vote in favour sealed the case.
