Last Saturday saw a representative squad from the Liskeard snooker and billiard leagues visit Victoria Snooker Club St Budeaux to fulfil their annual inter-league challenge against a representative side from the Plymouth leagues.

The senior squad lost to their hosts 10-4. Only St Dominic's Andy Pearce came away undefeated. Steve Boulton and Tony Farrant secured the other two points. Highest break of the evening came from Steve Boulton with a 59.

Senior Squad - Mike Puckey lost to Steve Whitcombe 34-62, 8-69 (32); G Hattam lost to Martin Pitcher 37-50, 45-55; A Pearce beat J Hawker 68-56, 54-43; Ian Hawke lost to Neil McDonald 33-70 (30), 32-56; Tony Farrant drew with Scott McGlinchey 18-77 (35), 64 (44)-16; Steve Boulton drew with Shaun Unwin 76 (59)-13, 10-83; Gary Hughes lost to Mark Davis 16-69, 15-57 (49).

Plymouth youth completed the snooker double with a fine 7-3 result against Liskeard. Jamie Richmond drew with Plymouth's Tim Wakeham but Downderry's 13-year-old Darren Lock was outstanding with a fine 2-0 win.

Junior Squad - Marcus Hicks lost to Mark Jefferies 28-55, 39-68; Ryan Ackland lost to Shane Colwill 39-60 (31), 13-77; Simon Deacon lost to Phil Ambrose 37-66, 24-58; Jamie Richmond drew with Tim Wakeham 69-46, 44-50; Darren Lock beat Dave Satchell 56-11, 49, 43.

With the billiard matches all being restricted to one hour's play, Liskeard's Alan Snell was in scintillating form crushing his Plymouth opponent and scoring at the rate of eight points per minute to amass a final total of 515. Individual highest breaks were Dave Clue (66), Ian Hunn (60), Darren Hunn (37), Alan snell (54), but returning the highest for the evening was Mike Searles 74. With another fine display by the Cornish squad the annual challenge shield still remains firmly on this side of the Tamar.

Billiard Squad - Dave Clue beat Dave Russell 350-197; Ian Hunn beat John Stephens 435-101; Darren Hunn lost to Mike Anniss 197-276; Alan Snell beat Roger ayres 515-157; Mike Searle beat Trevor Davies 261-142.

After the final match was finished Liskeards chairman Dave Snell thanked Plymouths conterpart Ron Stott for another successful evening.
