The last two weeks of games in all four divisions are crucial, as looking at all the league tables where the promotion system is two-up, two-down, several teams are in line for a higher status next season.

At the time of going to press a prediction would not be in order, but a very interesting climax to the season can be promised.

In Division One the game between Hits and Misses and Hotshots, the leaders managed to earn two second half points, showing a deserved 4-2 point win by three pins for the visitors. Second place Bulldogs looked to be a challenge for the championship, but in a crucial home game allowed the visiting Londoners to win comfortably and deprive them any points.

Edwardians, desperately needing points to save relegation, travelled to Callington, but were unable to contain the home side who with their six points gained look a threat for the vital runners-up spot (no third prize this year!).

The doomed Barley Oats put up one of their best performances of the season when they entertained the Misfits at the Barley Sheaf and with their four pin final majority were deservedly 4-2 winners.

Cast-Offs also fighting the relegation prospect came to grief on their visit to the Rebels at Pensilva, who took all six points in this game.

Division Two

Nearing the end of the season, the highest men's spare of 23 pins obtained first by Bert James of Misfits, then recently joined by Tony King of the Victorians looked set for awards, but that has been defeated and now Andy Long in his amongst his 83 pin total secured that 24 pin high spare record for this season.

The two points earned by the Crickets keep them in joint top place, but the team that beat them the Marquees with their four points hold fifth place and hold a slim chance of promotion.

Terriers had a tough match on their hands as at half-time in their game with Oddballs all scores were even, however they did just get the advantage in the second half by three pins to record a 5-1 point victory.

Ditchers produced one of their best performances at home at LBC scoring a massive 562 pins thus taking complete control over the Seccombes who could only account for 478 pins and hold a dangerous relegation spot. Ditchers Harry Thurston must feel very unlucky as with his 100-pin total he failed by one pin to equal the men's highest score this season.

Another determined team looking for promotion are Burley Booties who look set for a maximum victory as they lead by 30 pins after four legs, however their visitors, the Legionaires, did manage to put a stop to that, taking the second half to earn two of the six points at stake.

Middle of the table team Sandpipers and their opponents Woodentops, who they beat 6-0 can rest assured they will both still be skittling in division two next season.

Division Three

Four x 4's hold on to top spot following their 4-2 point win over the Growlers at Treburley, but it was a very evenly matched game as just the one pins separated the two teams at the final ball.

Hobos must feel very disappointed with the result of their penultimate home game versus the Tri-Ards who did produce a better display then of late to take all six points and retard Hobos challenge for the top.

With two games to go up Madhatters must be in with a chance of promotion following their game away to the Hilltops at Pensilva, they came away with five useful points, Hilltops gaining their one point from a drawn second half.

Yet again the Clementines fall by the wayside as their team of eight were only able to account for 424 pins, whereas their opponents the Demons romped home quite easily, adding six points to their collection, which greatly helps their effort to avoid relegation to division four.

Division Four

Things look very probably for the Millers, who play their skittles at Pensilva, to be playing their skittles next season in division three, as with their 5-1 victory over the Ramblers brings their total points to 84. Who will join them, Flyers or Circles?

Flyers played their part when on their visit to the Victorians at Roche just managed to get the better of both halves and with all six points hold a comfortable second spot.

Well done Ladybirds, as of late they have found points hard to come by, but at the British Legion they got the better of the home side - Linedancers and will all six points gained rise up two places from the bottom.

The Circles wait in suspense as their game versus the Breakaways was postponed, as was the Bilge Rats and Socialites, but captains please not these games must be played before the end of league skittling week.
