A good run of nine weeks in top position came to an end last week, as the Hits and Misses suffered a rare maximum defeat on their visit to the Rebels. The Pensilva side were the better team on the night with their 27 overall pin advantage and six useful points.

Bulldogs travelled to LBC looking for another maximum win. This they achieved over the Edwardians who were a trifle unlucky in the first half as only two pins separated the totals. but However all credit to Bulldogs who take the leadership, but for how long?

Callington were hoping for a better result at Millendreath, but found those Jets a handful and the game ended in a 4-2 win for the home side. It jolted their hopes of second but with five games to go, who knows?

The Cast-Offs move out of the relegation spot with a fine 6-0 point win at home to the Barley Oats. Barley now need a miracle in their last four games to avoid relegation. The Londoners visited the Legion Misfits and took control with a seven pin lead at half-time, however, the Misfits did manage to rescue two points with a one pin second half majority, ending up a 4-2 points win for the visitors.

In a Division Two top of the table clash at Duloe the Terriers took on the Ditchers and it looked as if it would be a close encounter.

But it did not turn out that way as the home side took command from the start, and with Richard Lewis scoring 101 pins (a new record) overhauled the Ditchers by a colossal 95 pins and with those six well earned points head the table.

Five games to play the Crickets are definitely in contention for honours as at the Callington Cricket Club they obtained a close, but worthy maximum win over the visiting Marketeers.

Fourth place Burley Booties looked set for a fine victory over the Marquees at Treburley as they held a 23 pin lead after four legs, but things were reversed, resulting in the visitors taking the remaining four points.

Six points were easily obtained by the Woodentops at Callington Social Club when they played the Seccombes, winning by a 58 pin majority at the final ball. Seccombes remain in the relegation area. The Legionaires showed an improved second half performance to gain two points, but the visiting Sandpipers gained the remaining four points to keep them out of the relegation zone.

With the promotion/relegation system of two up and two down, any of the top division three teams could be playing in division two next season.

Madhatters kept up their challenge with a fine maximum win away at the Snooty Fox where the home side were a trifle unlucky, missing out by five pins in each half to collect any points. Hanging in top spot in a top/bottom position game are the Four x 4's who looked set for all six points at Roche. But they allowed the Clementines to get the better of play in the second half, resulting in a 4-2 point win for the visitors.

The much improved Rally team recorded a high 525 pin total at Hessenford to take all six points, keeping up a serious challenge for top honours. Hobos were unlucky in the first half failing by only one pin to collect any points. At Treburley the Hilltops were 26 pins up after four legs over the Growlers who improved in the second four legs to reap two points. Nonetheless Hilltops are in sight of promotion.

Thrashers 535 pins - Victorians 513, was the score line at the Barley Sheaf showing the determination of Division Four skittlers which on the night would have got the better of most other higher division teams. However 4-2 points was the result to the home side in this middle of the table clash.

The top two teams met at Pensilva where the result could have influenced the promotion race, but the home side, Millers, got the better of both halves ending up with a 21 pin majority over challenging Circles. It leaves the runner-up spot wide open.

Flyers hold on third place as six more points came their way after a close game at Linkinhorne where the Breakaways were a trifle unlucky as only eight pins separated the two teams. The Socialites are also still in contention as at Callington Social club they easily got the better of the visiting Ramblers, who trailed by 67 pins at the end of the night.

In a low scoring game at Liskeard Sports Club the Ladybirds hosted the Bilge Rats where both teams could only account for 218 pins each in the first half, thus sharing two points. However the visitors were the slightly improved in the second half to collect four more points.
