Graham Freeman's magnificent 99 pins
IN a very high scoring Division IV match, Graham Freeman had a magnificent individual score of 99 for Victorians, helping them to beat Thrashers 6-0 and put his team on top of the table and win the run-around cup. Again in Division IV, Socialites totalled 523 pins, assisted by an 84 from Tony Bristow, to give them a 4-2 win over Foreign Legion.
In Division III, Madhatters scored a total of 522 pins and gained another 6-0 victory to keep them on top of the table, this time at the expense of Millers, who found Dobson's alley difficult.
Another good score was gained by Flyers, with 542 pins and a well earned six points against Circles, winning by a margin of 78. Demons travelled to Pensilva, but were unable to match Hilltops, who were the eventual 6-0 winners by a margin of 52 pins. Clementines entertained Treburley Growlers and with only three pins separating the two. Growlers ended up with four valuable points, allowing the home side to take two points in the second half.
Tri-ards visited Rally at Lanreath and in a very close fought match, where only one pin separated the two, Tri-ards were the eventual 4-2 winners, also taking the Run-around Cup.
Sandpipers scored a superb 528 pins to give them a 6-0 win against Marketeers and ensure their place on top of Division II. Another high scoring match was seen at the Barley Sheaf in Liskeard, when Barley Oats entertained Oddballs, where the visitors won by only one pin, with a fine score of 525, assisted by an 83 from Alfie Hill.
Ditchers travelled to Pensilva, where they took on Seccombes, winning 6-0 by a margin of 49 pins to retain their second spot in the table. Four x Fours visited Hobos and although the home side won the first half, they could not match the visitors after the break, allowing them to win 4-2 by a margin of 50 pins and take the run-around Cup. Burley Booties visited Legionaires and, despite the home side gaining 20 pins in the first half, the visitors eventually won 4-2 by only one pin.
Legion Misfits took over the top spot in Division One and the Run-around Cup, following a superb performance against their alley-mates, Hotshots, with a total pinfall of 561 and two players scoring in excess of 80, they took all six points by a margin of 43 pins.
Another very high scoring match was seen when Crickets visited Londoners, with a total of 589 pins for Crickets against the home side's 529. Edwardians entertained Jets, but were unable to match their scores in the second half, allowing them to take four of the available six points, assisted by an 83 from Keith Walke. Callington also won 4-2 in their match against Castoffs at Dobson's by a margin of 30 pins. Finally Hits & Misses gained a valuable 4-2 win against visiting Terriers in a fairly low-scoring match.
Late results: (League week 7) Division IV: Thrashers took all six points, with a pinfall of 519 and the Run-around Cup from Social Slammers at St Keyne, assisted by a terrific 82 from Shane Pollard. (5-a-side Cup) Seccombes A beat their alley-mates Rebels A despite a 72 from Captain Andy Hassam and an 18 spare from Bill Haynes.
