RESIDENTS at a care home lifted the lockdown blues with a memorable concert and afternoon tea.

Members of The Not Forgotten’s professional team of musicians and singers visited Rivermead View in Looe as part of a national outdoor concert tour.

They’ve been to residential homes all over the UK, bringing morale-boosting entertainment to thousands of people in recent weeks. Residents and staff at the Looe home gathered together in their ‘bubbles’ to enjoy the food and the music.

Around 24 residents and several staff sang along, tapped their feet and waved flags as popular classics and rousing favourites were performed, including a poignant special tribute the late Dame Vera Lynn.

Commenting on the day, Shirin Hodgson-Watt, Wellbeing C0-ordinator at Rivermead View said “We are so grateful to The Not Forgotten for bringing this show to us. Our residents had a truly fantastic afternoon and we were struck by the enthusiasm and warmth of the artists and their willingness to engage with their audience, despite their unavoidable separation.”

Brigadier James Stopford is CEO of The Not Forgotten. He said: “Sadly, events to commemorate VE Day, VJ Day and D Day could not take place properly this year, so we were determined to help WW2 veterans and those who have served their country mark these important days by bringing the celebrations to them.”
