A MUSIC teacher from Polperro has been recognised in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. Colin Seddon, a lecturer at City College in Plymouth, received a Silver Award for Further Education Lecturer of the Year. Colin was nominated by director of creative, cultural and digital industries at City College, Mark Trewin, who said: 'Colin is without doubt one of the most extraordinarily skilled individuals that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. 'Not only is he a phenomenal musician, he is also a first class teacher. His work and impact on our students is incredible and inspiring, his support of colleagues is unfailing and his positivity and humour is infectious. He thoroughly deserves this award.' With 22,000 nominations from schools and colleges across the UK, Colin was one of just 55 teachers presented with awards on national Thank a Teacher Day. He said: 'It's an absolute pleasure to win an award for what I love doing. 'I've had a lifelong relationship with music education in many varied contexts; I feel humbled to have been recognised for my passion for both teaching and music, and for the work I do with our students.'
