Request from an Englishman semi retired to the relaxed way of life in Cornwall.
The need to show respect at all times and courteously stop, reverse and allow the free passage to the established land owners and original residents of Cornwall is generally accepted.
It would be so much easier to do this if the hedgerows that are rapidly making a take over bid were cut back. This would mean that wing mirrors which have either been snapped back, or are buried in said foliage could be used, thus enabling us more rapidly and safely give due homage to the oncoming person and allow them to pass unhindered. It may also remove the need to have vehicles resprayed as the continual contact with the unlawfully neglected lanes does have a detrimental affect on the cellulose.
The lanes of Downderry are in places barely passable, could the local Parish Council bring verbal pressure to bear in the appropriate places to make free passage easier and safer for all.
GEORGE I BURTON
Torpoint.
