There was a good selection of entries in the Torpoint Annual Garden and Craft Show at the Comrades and United Services Club. As well as vegetables, flowers, cookery and crafts, there were some interesting entries by children. Mayoress Tina Crago and deputy mayor Mike Pearn presented the prizes and some entries were auctioned for charity, raising £362.15 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. The results were: Best of – root vegetables, Spike Hughes; onions and shallots, Colin Fowle; pulses, Pete McLaren; salads and herbs, Karen Ellis; flowers: John Parsons; cookery, Jenny Gamm; needlework, Jean Price; photography, Mr and Mrs Tayler; flower arranging: Betty Tarrant. Most points – fruit and vegetables, Ivan Southworth; craft, Doreen Ross; flowers, Flo Harris; photography, Mr and Mrs Tayler; cookery, Margaret McPherson.
