More than 1,000 horses, ponies and donkeys will head to Cornwall in early June to compete at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show.

With the show three months away, postal and online entries are now open for the horse section. Prize schedules, sponsored by Countrywide Farmers, have already been sent to last year’s competitors.

Online entries can be submitted by visiting www.rcsenties.co.uk, where the prize schedule can also be downloaded and viewed, along with postal entry forms.

Entries for the section close on Tuesday, April 18. Showjumping class entries close for those requiring stabling on Tuesday, May 2 and those not needing stables have until Tuesday, May 16 to enter.

The show takes place on June 8, 9 and 10 at the Wadebridge showground.

The Pony Club mounted games take place in horse judging rings with more thrills and spills coming in the main ring from the inter-hunt relay, sponsored again by Roger Young Land Rover.

The Four Burrow will be aiming to defend the crown that they title that their team won last year.

The grand parade of prize winning horses will take place on each day in the main ring, along with eight quality show jumping classes with generous support from Oakwood Equine Laundry, Rosevean Vets, Horse & Jockey Bakery and NSR Communications.

The Francis Clark LLP driving competitions will also grace the show’s main ring on the Thursday and Friday. The impressive heavy horses will take centre stage on the Saturday.
