Shopping for the 21st century

Your report on the refusal by Caradon to sell land at Polean to Tesco shows the very cosy situation enjoyed by the chamber of trade, the town council and Caradon.

Is it not time that the town council and Caradon gave some consideration to the majority of residents in Looe and the immediate district by allowing us the choice of shop that we need. Caradon should think of the population of the area and not the vested interests of the few. The government is making car travel increasingly expensive, but we have to travel to Liskeard at least to find a full-size shop with car parking. Our town will die soon unless we are allowed the facilities that are now normal in 21st century Britain.
