A NATIONAL charity’s world record attempt backed by shoppers in South East Cornwall has been successful.

The British Heart Foundation marked Valentine’s Day by joining the messages of 17,939 BHF supporters in a Guinness world record title attempt for longest chain of paper hearts.

People at shops including the Liskeard branch signed messages on paper hearts to form part of the chain.

The charity created a chain of 17,939 of these hearts.
